A bit of our history

Dr. Daniel Cárdenas Mora, a surgeon by profession, seeing the potential of the Culiacán Valley, decided to modestly venture into vegetable farming in 1945. He formed a partnership with other colleagues and with the temporary collaboration of his son, Daniel Cárdenas Izabal, who, driven by his passion, left in 1946 to study agronomy at the Hermanos Escobar private agricultural school in Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua, Mexico. Later, in 1949, Dr. Cárdenas Mora and his son, Daniel Cárdenas Izabal, recently graduated from agronomy school, restarted the small agricultural operation with Alfredo Tribolet, who only stayed for one season. This marked the beginning of the Tricar brand.

As a result of the incorporation of Daniel Cárdenas Izabal, the modest agricultural operation over the years transformed into a major horticultural business, building during this period of years important support infrastructure such as: mechanized packing, refrigerated rooms, workshop area, greenhouses, etc.

Engineer Daniel Cárdenas Cevallos joined the agricultural operation in 1987, and is currently in full charge of it; having been involved in the incorporation of new technologies in drip irrigation, mulching, trellising and soil fumigation, as well as being able to obtain new tomato seeds with a long shelf life characteristic, he also built the electronic packaging and allowed the development of better marketing and organizational systems, always maintaining very clear objectives of honesty, efficiency and quality.

In 1952, Dr. Daniel Cárdenas Mora agreed with his son Daniel to open the Tricar distribution office in Nogales, Arizona, USA. Initially the first office owned by Mexican producers, it is now an American corporation, with Mr. Daniel Cárdenas Izabal as president and his son, Juan Carlos Cárdenas Cevallos, as vice president. Since July 1996, Mr. Cárdenas Cevallos has faced the professional challenge of improving Tricar Sales, Inc.'s marketing and expanding distribution to a greater number of producers who also offer the highest quality products, thus preserving the tradition that has been its philosophy for generations (quality, quality, and more quality).
